Loss is something we will all have to face. At RIBSG we believe that speaking to other members who work in Rail and can empathise and support each other will help us all to work through our losses and move forward in a healthy way.
The bereavement support group aims to meet at various times to suit most people. Our sessions are a relaxed chat with other members who are grieving. You are welcome to join at any time over the scheduled 60 minutes.
Some planned sessions are a combination of themed discussion, presentation or speaking group.
All sessions are held vis Microsoft Teams and the next scheduled calls are as follows -
Tuesday 10th December 2024 at 3pm
Thursday 19th December at 4pm
Friday 27th December at 2pm
Friday 3rd January at 11am
Every year during National Grief Awareness Week, 2nd to 8th December, we hold an online service of light to remember those we have lost and take a moment out of our workday to share anecdotes, stories and memories. If you would like your loved one included in the service, please contact us on the details below.
The Rail Industry Bereavement support group was established in February 2021, when we realised that there were lots of people returning to work following a bereavement that had been exacerbated by Covid restrictions in some way. We have each experienced our own losses and the group developed from a need to build a safe space to discuss those losses to people who could understand.
By building a community for the Railway family to grieve safely together, we aimed to ensure that no-one would have to grieve alone.
There are four committee members currently,
Caitriona O’Brien Network Rail;
Lisa Wellbeloved Network Rail;
Richmal Price Network Rail;
and
Jimmy Brown Network Rail and RMT
